Migi Wristlet Pouch 2184

A harmonious blend of emblems: 'noshi' strips unfurl across the cream silk kimono fabric. 'Noshi' were originally strips of abalone that were tied up and given to fisherman as a lucky talisman: nowadays they are ribbons, given as good luck gifts.   Within the 'noshi', elegant patterns of 'ume' blossom, 'botan' peony, 'kasumi' clouds, and 'choucho' butterfly are scattered alongside the repeating patterns 'kikkou' the hexagonal pattern, and 'seigaiha' the fish scale like pattern.

This vintage kimono was sourced from Kyoto in Japan.  It is approximately 20-30 years old.

Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.

Dimensions: 19cm x15cm.
