Kawa Obi Sling 1812


Our casual, swing clutch, with chain strap and leather tassel.    One side is leather, and other is vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.  

The waving lines of the ‘tatewaku’ represent steam rising from plants during the first warmth of spring, and is an auspicious omen. The ‘Kiku’, chrysanthemum, is the Flower of the Imperial House and and often used icon of Japan itself and represents rejuvenation and longevity. 

This vintage Fukuro obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan.  It is approximately 40 years old, and in excellent condition.
