Our stylish and functional purse, hand made from vintage kimono. It has 4 inside pockets/sections, plus a zippered coin sections and 5 card slots in the main part. The bottom area opens out to give 4 more card slots and another pocket/section.

Seigaiha patterns cover this kimono: these ‘wave’ or ‘scale’ patterns can be seen on all forms of Japanese design.  it was originally used on maps to depict the sea, and was made popular by the artist Seikai Kanshichi.  Depicted within each wave, are Guruma, a popular kimono pattern since the Heian era 794 to1185 AD. The Genji Guruma, is an Heian oxcart that was linked with the wheel of Karma in the Buddhist Tale of Genji.

The fabric is silk woven with a soft textured finish.

This vintage kimono was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan.  It is approximately 30 years old.
