Our stylish and functional purse, hand made from vintage kimono: use as a travel accessory, as it can accommodate passports and boarding passes, or as a colourful day time clutch clutch to hold your essentials.  The gingko purse features 6 divided internal sections, plus one zipped section, and credit card slots to keep everything together.

A delightful pattern Noshi cover this silk kimono. Noshi are strips of ribbon, tied and given as good luck charms: this follows from and old fishermen's tradition of giving strips of tied abalone as talisman when venturing out to sea.

Inside the strips, you find ‘Ume' blossom, ‘Momiji’ maple leaves and 'Seigaiha' repeating wave patterns.  Ume, plum blossom is a favourite within Japan, it’s beauty and fragrance being reflected across art forms.  it is the first blossom of the year to bloom, and represents endurance and good fortune.

The pattern is also printed on a rinzu silk kimono: a kind of damask silk which has 'Nami' wave motifs woven into it’s surface, for extra lustre and texture.  Some elements are highlighted in gold.

This vintage kimono was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan.  It is approximately 20-30 years old.

Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.
