A beautiful blend of tree emblems ‘take’, ‘momiji’ with 'matsu' and ‘ume’ blossom.
Take, bamboo, is known for it's strength, therefore the motif signifies strength of character. Matsu is pine, the trees were believed to live for 100 years. It is a hardy plant that symbolises strength and long life. Momiji, maple leaves symbolise autumn. Japanese traditionally admire and revere autumnal leaves just as they celebrate blossom in the spring.
The patterns covering this purse include 'Asanoha', or 'Hemp Leaf’ a geometric motif it is not associated with a particular season so it can be worn throughout the year. It is also connected to growth and children's health, since hemp is durable and grows quickly. 'Sayagata' is a repeating pattern of the Buddhist swastika symbol: comprising of left- and right-facing swastikas joined by lines. 'Shippou'is a never ending pattern of interlocking Circles. A symbol of gemstones or treasures.
