Fukuro Obi Clutch 3001C

Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.

A delightful display of gold, silver and white ‘Hanamon’ sit upon the royal blue/purple silk obi. The Hanamon is a floral emblem: Mon is a family crest, and hanamon is the generic name given to mon with a flower.

The background silk is woven with a pattern of ‘Hanabishi’, giving extra texture to the fabric.  Hanabishi is a floral emblem within a diamond.

This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan.  It is approximately 20 to 30 years old, and in excellent condition.

Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.
