Fukuro Obi Clutch 2802E

Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.

Bright dynamic Kiku leaps off the fabric. Kiku, the Chrysanthemum, is the Flower of the Imperial House and and often used icon of Japan itself (it features on Japanese passports). It represents rejuvenation and longevity.

The fabric is heavily embroidered with bright pink, red, and white threads, together with metallic pastel shades of pale green and light blue, bronze gold and silver.  Please note that the more loosely woven areas should be handled gently as the thread can be caught on jewellery.

This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan.  It is approximately 40 years old, and in excellent condition.

Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.
