Fukuro Obi Clutch 2788E

Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.

Bright dynamic orange and gold Kiku leap off the fabric. Kiku, the Chrysanthemum, is the Flower of the Imperial House and and often used icon of Japan itself (it features on Japanese passports). It represents rejuvenation and longevity.

This design is almost two bags in one - choose to hold one way to show the orange/red flower, or the other side to show the gold!

The fabric is orange, metallic orange, red, gold and silver threads.

This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan.  It is approximately 40 years old, and in excellent condition.

Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.
