Fukuro Obi Clutch 2775B

Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.

A charming arrangement of bold ‘botan’: peonies are known as the King of Flowers in Japan, where they represent longevity and steadfastness.

Within the green leaves are bishi, diamond patterns, and in the yellow are matsu patterns, these represent pine trees, which are believed to live for 100 years. It is a hardy plant that symbolises strength and long life.

Woven with cherry red, bright orange lime green, warm yellow, white, silver and gold threads.

It is made from a mixture of weave effects, some area are woven tightly, and others have a looser zig zag weave effect - note that this is easier to catch and possibly snag on jewellery. There are 3 area where the thread has been caught and pulled slightly - it is best not to cut these, so we have left them.  Please have a close look at the pictures, or contact us to send more pictures.
