Fukuro Obi Clutch 2681B


Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.

Bold Nadeshiko decorate this obi. These are Dianthus, or Pinks, are a symbol of femininity. Many womens’ groups or teams are called by this flower, including Japan women’s football team.

It is woven with three tones of pink, metallic pale blue, and gold and silver threads. This obi is woven using the Nishijin technique that was developed in an area of Kyoto around 1200 years ago.

This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan.  It is approximately 40 years old, and in excellent condition.
