Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.
A charming arrangement of bold silver Botan and Kiku adorn the black silk obi. Botan, peonies, are known as the King of Flowers in Japan, where they represent longevity and steadfastness. Kiku, the chrysanthemum, is the flower of the Imperial House and and often used icon of Japan itself (it features on Japanese passports). Heavily embroidered pink Kasumi, clouds, float around the flowers.
This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan. It is approximately 20 to 30 years old, and in excellent condition.
Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.
