Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.
Bright gold and red Momiji fall across the black obi fabric. Maple leaves symbolise autumn, and the Japanese traditionally admire and revere the Momiji leaves just as they celebrate blossom in the spring. Momijigari is a celebration of the beauty of autumn leaves which was started by aristocracy during the Heian era 794 to 1185AD.
This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan. It is approximately 30 to 40 years old, and in excellent condition.
Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.
