Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.
Bright, bold yellow, red and white 'momiji' sit in the gold branches of the tree, on a midnight blue silk background. Momiji, maple leaves, symbolise autumn. Japanese traditionally admire and revere autumnal leaves just as they celebrate blossom in the spring. Momijigari is a celebration of beautiful autumn leaves, started by aristocracy during the Heian era 794 to 1185 AD.
This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan. It is approximately 40 to 50 years old, and in excellent condition.
