Fukuro Obi Clutch 5076D

Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.

This black silk obi is covered in bright pink and teal Kiku. Kiku, the Chrysanthemum is the Flower of the Imperial House and and often used icon of Japan itself (it features on Japanese passports). It represents rejuvenation and longevity.

There is a small crease on the front the right of the flower which is best left. the Obi has to be folded when worn and sometimes we cannot iron it all out! The 6th picture shows this.  The price reflects this blemish.

This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan.  It is approximately 40 years old, and in excellent condition.

Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.

Dimensions: 30.5cm x 22cm
