Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.
This back obi is decorated with the repeating pattern of Kikkou: as it resembles a tortoiseshell pattern it is a sign of long life as the tortoise was believed to live for over 1000 years.
This clutch should be handled with care as this pattern is the looser weave type and can be snagged on jewellery.
This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan. It is approximately 20 to 30 years old, and in excellent condition.
Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.
